Radical Play Lab x HBCU

Emerson College Los Angeles, Jun-Jul 2024

The Radical Play Lab provided a customized extensive training program for 21 students from the Entertainment Industry Outreach Program’s HBCU in LA Games program in the summer of 2024.

The students, who represented schools such as Alabama A&M, North Carolina A&T, and Spellman College received instruction in C++, game design, games development, and game platforms. The program was tremendously successful in helping this cohort develop industry-specific skills and in providing networking opportunities with companies located throughout the greater Los Angeles area.

There remains, however, a need for a continued and sustained program that prioritizes community-centered games development and extends the summer curriculum.

We would sincerely appreciate your support

Our programs have long been funded by invested professors and students, but in order to reach greater influence — especially in underrepresented communities in the Los Angeles area — we need more funding to run events, seminars, and summer courses. Your donations will ensure that under-privileged students will receive prolonged support for extending their game development and coding careers.
